This weekend we "taiwanese wives club"
got together at Flora`s farm in upstate of New York.
Karen,our president & secretary called everyone to arrive at noon,
so Bill,Christine and I left around 9 am.It took 3 hours to get there.
When we got there,the huge farm,we were not sure it was Flora`s house or not.
Actually,I haven`t met Flora before. Bill pulled over the car and wanted me to check.
I saw a guy working at pool....I approached to ask him" excuse me,does Flora live here?
A Chinese lady..."
"no Chinese lady lives here" he said
We must have gone to the wrong direction,I thought.
"excuse me,where is oooo street?"
He pointed the opposite side ..."there"
I said thanks to him and turned around to leave...
I heard him yelling..."Flora"
hey,he fooled me.
later on people arrove...
Katie and her husband Brian and her mom.
Winnie and her 8 years old daughter and her friend 10 years old girl Joy.
Ming ,her husband Charlie and two wonderful teens Harrison and Stephne.
Karen and her husband Herb.
Our host Louis and hostess Flora.
My daughter Christine came back from NYC on Friday night and just in time to join us.
Katie`s mom made lunch for us.It was mei-gan -lu-meat.(hope you understood)
After lunch, women and kids got together at pool
while men had their silly conversation at back yard.
Flora overheard their conversation,Louis said that Taiwanese wife is stubburn
and also consider herself smart.
Bill said that he AGREED with that.(how dare he was)
Brian did not say anything.(agreed silently)
Herb said that he has no problem with it.
Charlie is a Taiwanese and he loves Ming with all his heart for over 30 years,
so he has no problem with marrying a Taiwanese wife.
So we decided when we get home,our husbands would 'GO AND SEE'
We had a good time wheather we were in pool or just talked.
Louis started BBQ so we moved to the back yard
and started the new conversation there.
We all know that Louis is an Italian-American,
but when I mentioned it,
he said seriously that he is a French.
I was very embarassed at that moment.
But I remember it very well....
We asked Flora about this...
He fooled us again.
Louis is a very funny guy,joked a lot,teased Flora a lot....
Louis learned a lot chinese even he pronunced odd,
he said he asked Flora how to say 'I love you 'in Chinese,
Flora taught him "wan-ba-dan"
Bill said they reminded him the episode"everybody loves raymond"
Frank and Marie teased each other a lot too.(They are Italians too)
The BBQ was very very good.
Karen brought beer,
Ming brought cakes....
Louis kept joking,people laughing....
Katie and Winnie left at 9 pm....
Others went to ice cream house named Holy cow,
home-made ice cream...less expensive(only 1.45)..best quality....
Everbody enjoyed it very much.
Ming`s family left after ice cream.
Karen and Herb,Bill ,Christine and I stayed over night there.
Can you believe that I was waken by the rooster crowing.
We had muffin and coffee for breakfast.
Louis made brunch for us,
there were english muffin,smoked salmon,lettuce,tomato,onion and cream cheese.
(It was great so we stopped at nearby super market on the way home to get those stuff
for our dinner.)
We stopped by the ice cream house again before we head back to new jersey.
We had a very wonderful time at their farm,
so we are very BRAVE to ask them to go again some time in August....
We are so lucky to know so many good friends through internet
which was considered dangerous,fake,fool around...
but we did find good friends through internet.
